Some Cali Pics . . . Finally

Well hello there!

Yes, indeed, I am still alive. I'm afraid that blogging has not been high on my list of priorities of late. It has been a very busy summer, and it's still busy. With the weeks spent in California, Lisa's moving to Colorado, Michelle getting a new supervisor position, and my workload going crazy (and various trips to the doc, more to come on that), I just haven't had time to get to it.

And tomorrow, I head out to Fishkill, New York. Yeeeehaawwww! I'll be in upstate New York for a week of documentation fun. So I thought I would take a few minutes to drop a few pics from my California trip for your viewing pleasure.

Here's one of me in Monterey, standing in front of one of the many marinas. This was maybe the best day we had. The weather was hotter than we wanted, but that morning was beautiful. You can see how sunny it was, and it was cool that morning with the wind coming in off the bay. I really need to get a boat.

We had a little fun in San Fran, too. The most fun we had was at the very touristy, but also entertaining (if you've never been there) Pier 39. It had a fun carnival atmosphere, some neat shops, and a great view of the bay. At lunch we got a window seat with a view of the Golden Gate, Alcatraz, and the sea lions. That totally made Michelle's day. Here she is with Pier 39 and San Francisco in the back ground.

I just thought I'd throw this one in for a little local color. This was a building just down the street from our hotel. I really loved the architecture in San Fran. So many great old buildings. I wish Austin had more of those.

And here's the best shot from the trip, in my opinion. This was a cool little piece of art in Union Square, which was only a couple of blocks from our hotel. It was hotter than sin by the time we took this, and we had just walked a couple of miles from the pier, but it was a nice spot. Good live music, people out enjoying the sun, and lots of really upscale stores. If I hadn't been so sick, it would have been great. Still, this picture will give me good memories and help me forget the bad ones.

Ta Ta For Now, my friends. On the morrow, I am off for New York (and a blessed respite from the Texas heat). I won't have much time, since it's going to be a quick in and out working trip, but I'll try and get some interesting pics while I'm there. Maybe I can get a couple of shots of the Hudson River.

See you all soon.
