A Not-So-Shameless Plug

Hello, all you blogheads.

I know I haven't posted in quite some time, and once again--as I have done so many times before--I apologize for my lack of digital verbiage. But I've been busy in the real world. Spring is coming on fast, and those of you who are homeowners know what that means. Yards must be fertilized, weeds must be pulled, flower beds must be sown with seed and prepared for the onset of the growing season. Plus, there are movies to be seen and beers to be drunk and burgers to be eaten with friends...in person...

Anyway, this will be a short post, and it's point is to plug a good cause.

I was contacted today by someone looking for help to meet a challenge and achieve a goal.

Her name is Charlene Crockett, and she is working very hard to raise money to find a cure for leukemia and several other types of cancer. She is a friend of my brother's, and he asked me to do what I could to help her. So this is the best thing I can think of.

She has a donation website, with her explanation of what she's doing here.

And, for all you folks out there who just adore the blogosphere, she has started a blog to track her training progress.

Now, I don't really know her, but my brother vouches for her sincerity, and for all his goofiness, when my brother vouches for someone, I believe in them.

As you know, every Fall, I raise money to help find a cure for juvenile diabetes, so I can feel for someone who is working hard for a cure. And this looks like something alot more challenging than the 2k walk that the JDRF sponsors. This woman is going to fly to San Diego on her own dime to participate in a marathon so that all of the money that she has raised will go to the charity. And from Luke tells me, she's in about as good a shape as I am. So it should be very interesting and perhaps even compelling to follow her blog and see how things go.

Michelle and I will probably donate some to her cause, and I'm encouraging everyone who reads this to do the same. At the very least, send her a message of encouragement and let her know that there are people out there that are happy to support someone who is trying to make the world a better place.

Here's to someday living in a world with alot fewer terminal diseases.
I think I'm gonna go say a little prayer now...
